A Miracle

I've always known that prayer is powerful. This week I've seen it in a beautiful, new way. I admit I don't completely understand how prayer works. I do know, though, that our Father wants us to talk to Him, to bring things to His throne, to acknowledge His power (and our lack of it), to depend on Him, to trust Him...and to watch Him work. It's awesome when you see a "quick" answer to prayer. When you know you are praying His will and you see Him change hearts and do miracles.

What I desperately want to remember is that even during those times that I don't see an answer - or, rather, if the answer is "wait," or even "no," that He is still just as powerful; He is just as much at work; He is just as in control; He is just as good and worthy of my trust; He loves me just as much.

I praise Him for the blessing of these times when His hand is so obvious in a situation. It certainly increases my faith. It causes me to long to hold onto that hand even more...whether I see what He is up to or not. Because make no mistake: He's always up to something. And it's always for our good and His glory.

No, I don't completely understand prayer, but I know that I am thankful for it. He didn't have to design it...He could just do what is best and never have made a way for us to be in on the process, to see His love and power in this way, to communicate with the Creator of the Universe. But I praise Him for the fact that He wants this intimacy with us. I am so grateful Jesus made a way for us to come to our Father. I can't imagine what life would be without it. Except I know it wouldn't be a life at all.

Whether we understand prayer or not, it is actually a command from Him for a reason. It is also a gift. So even when we don't see what we would consider a miracle as the result of our intercession, let's pray that we remember that prayer itself is a miracle.

And remember that there is much going on that we don't see.
